STAR Counselor – Part-Time [position #05-Gal-2009]

Description:   The STAR program provides counseling and education to families with youth (under age 18).  The program utilizes a solution-focused approach to help families resolve crises and build resiliency.  The STAR Counselor will be responsible for providing services to residents of Liberty and Chambers counties.  The primary work location is in Mont Belvieu.  Usual tasks include conducting psycho/social assessments, developing intervention action plans, working with clients to achieve their goals, and assessing client outcomes.  STAR Counselors also engage in community outreach activities, community education, and group skill-building classes.

Supervision:  STAR Program Director
Hours:   Part-Time
Office Location:  Mont Belvieu (Chambers County)

Qualifications: 

• Bachelors degree in a field relevant to behavioral counseling plus at least one year counseling experience; Master’s degree preferred
• Ability to complete the tasks required of a STAR counselor
• Willingness to travel within Liberty and Chambers counties and to Galveston County as needed.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) desired but not necessary
